Project
Through my online persona "MakerToast", where thousands follow along with builds spanning fabrication, prop-making, and design, I took a stock Nerf Raptorstrike from concept through final working prototype, reworking its internal architecture to house a high-output compressed air system built around the Super Core, a precision-machined high-pressure air chamber. Once shared online, the build reached over 3 million views, a signal that the craft resonated far beyond the maker community.
Beyond function, the build underwent a full transformation. Custom 3D-printed components, Bondo surface finishing, Dremel carving, paint, and weathering turned a toy platform into a fully realized prop, reimagined as a gold camo sniper rifle inspired by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Performance was validated at the Bonneville Salt Flats, where the blaster recorded a muzzle velocity of 400 fps on a chronograph, confirming the mechanical work matched the ambition of the design.
